Anonymous HIV Testing at Our Clinic.

In 2008, we were given the mandate by the Ministry of Health to conduct anonymous HIV testing.

Registration form for Anonymous HIV Testing. No personal details required.

Registration form for Anonymous HIV Testing. No personal details required.

Not all clinics are allowed to conduct anonymous HIV tests. This is because according to the Infectious Diseases Act, all medical personnel are required to inform MOH of the details of any person they know or suspect of being infected with HIV. Our clinic signed a gazette that is filed with the Supreme Court of Singapore to excuse us from this section of the Infectious Diseases Act. We are therefore mandated under Singapore Law to be allowed to conduct Anonymous HIV tests. Yes, it is a big deal.

We use only current first in line HIV tests that are validated and approved according to the latest International Standards.

All Our Doctors are fully certified and trained in advance HIV testing.

We use only single use and disposable equipment and are validated by MOH for Good Infection Control Practices.

Here is a step-by-step guide to getting an Anonymous HIV test done at our clinic.

1. Anonymous HIV tests are conducted at our clinic at Robertson Walk.

2. You do not need an appointment. Just walk in to our clinic anytime during our opening hours.

Click Here for Contact Details, Address and Opening Times.

3. Let our staff at the counter know that you are here for the ‘3 step test’

4. You will be given a form that looks like this: AHT Registration Form

5. As you can see, the form does not require any personal details from you.

6. This form has a serial number on it : AHT####. You will be identified according to this number.

7. You will be given a pamphlet with information on various HIV and STD tests. Your serial number will also be on this pamphlet. Hold on to it.

8. When the doctor is ready to see you, the staff will ask you to go into the doctor’s room.

9. When you meet the doctor, this is your chance to ask all the questions you want to ask.

10. You should also let the doctor know if you suspect or wish to test for any other STDs.

Click here to see the full range of our HIV/STD Services

11. We offer both the Oraquick Advance HIV 1/2 Test, the Determine HIV 1/2 Test and the SD Bioline HIV Combo test.

Click here for info on the Rapid Anonymous HIV Combo Test

12. The doctor will ask you a few pertinent questions then conduct the test for you.

13. You will need to wait 20 minutes for the results.

If you test Negative for HIV

1. The doctor will advise you on when to come back for a repeat test if you are in the window period.

2. This is another chance for you to ask whatever questions you have with regards to HIV or any other STDs.

3. You can then leave the clinic but please remember to come back for your repeat test if required.

If you test Positive for HIV

1. The doctor will draw a blood for a confirmatory Western Blot test. This test is also anonymous.

2. This test might take up to 2 weeks for us to get the results.

3. Because you tested at our clinic, there will be no notification requirements.

4. You can leave a contact number or email for us to contact you with the Western Blot results. Or you can contact us after 2 weeks.

5. Our doctor will then discuss with you the next steps.

6. All of this still remains anonymous.

Do not hesitate. Come for a test now.

  1. Hi doctor tan…
I am 26 years male. I am circumcised male. I am unprotected vaginal sex single exposer with a girl. Later 9 months found she is hiv positive.

My tests:- 9 months post exposure westren blot negative.
12 and 16 months postexposure Hiv rna pcrqualitative negative elisa, alerecombo, tridot, ictc all are negative 22 months time period and 70 all hiv test total….

    my questions:-
1)Exactly 2years after a risky exposure (sexual encounter with female possible IV user) I took a full STD panel (including an anti-HCV test). All results were negative. any further test needed….

2)Some places say it takes years to detect antibodies for Hiv, Who should I believe? Please let me know if I can trust my results!

    3)iam negative…
Pls doctor say clear answer all my questions….this lost question…
    Your the best…
    Thank you…

  2. Please reply

    Dear Doctor,

    Please read.

I had unprotected oral sex(both give and receiver) with another man of unknown HIV status. 30 days after exposure I got tested for HIV using the 4th generation kit at your clinic and the result was negative. 6 weeks after exposure I got tested again using the 4th generation kit and it was negative again.
7 weeks after exposure I was in India and I got tested for the entire STD panel (including the HIV combo test) and it was all negative.

Could you please confirm if I need to be tested again or are the above results absolutely conclusive?

I recently developed some ulcers in my mouth, have a sore throat and a runny nose.

Can it still be considered that I am HIV negative?

I read online that the window period is 3 months, is it true?

I would be very grateful if you could please reply at your earliest convenience. I have lost my appetite, weight and peace because of the fear of HIV? Please please reply.

    Thank you very much.

    • Your tests are conclusive – no HIV.

      • Please reply

        Dear Dr. Jonathan,

Thank you for your reply, I am grateful for it.

I have a follow up question please, I have been to your clinic twice (once for the rapid 4th generation test 30 days after exposure and, after that, for consultation. I met Dr. Omprakash and she advised that if no STD symptoms appeared in the first month then there is no chance for any STD. HIV was ruled out by her as the rapid 4th generation test is considered conclusive after 28 days.

        My questions are:

        1) is an STD panel (which constitutes HIV, Chlymadia, Syphillis and Herpes) conclusive after 7 weeks of exposure?
        2) I have a lot of ulcers in my mouth and some red spots on my arms, can this be related to any STD?

  3. Hi Dr
I had protected anal sex with someone. After that i removed the condom with my bare fingers which had a fresh cut. I also masterbated him with the same fingers. He had just came and his penis and foreskin had semen stain which had direct contact withmy cut.
May i know my hiv risk?

    • Your risk would be from the anal sex itself (protected), not from the hand/cut. If you were receptive and we assume they are HIV positive, the risk with condom is still around 0.3% – 20% (high risk is they have acute HIV and there are other types of STDs from either of you, e.g. chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis). If you have concerns, please visit our clinics for consultation and testing.

      • So Dr I am doomed:
One day later ulcer under tongue.
Four days later fatique, nausea, headache
        One week later diarrhoea.

      • I had protected sex with a legalised sex worker in Australia with unknown HIV status (they are suppose to be screen for HIV every 3 months), and protected insertive oral but i was concerned that her vaginal fluids would contain HIV when we had deep kissing. I had a blood test in Aus at week 2 and week 4 and it came out negative, it was full HIV and STD test. At 6-7 week mark, i did a 4th gen test at one of clinics in sg listed in afa website, it was negative too. I read on the questions and answers that 6 weeks is conclusive but one post say need 3 months, so I do not know which to believe. I keep getting anxiety attacks that i might be that 1% that the test cannot find. The doctor and nurses in Aus say my encounter is very low risk but my mind keep speculating that i might get it as i study chemistry and biology, i keep thinking that these test are not reliable. I read online that only 3 months is conclusive and there are reports that the viruses can be detected and suddenly not be detected when you do the tests. Do i have to go do another test at 12 weeks mark? Please sincerely ease my anxiety.

  4. Hello doctor , sorry for my bad english
I’m gay and I got an oral sex without using condom with a guy for the 1st time . 30 days after exposure I tested HIV Combo and got NEGATIVE result . But I still fill panic because I still got something like red acne and some signal on my skin .
I wanna ask that the result after 30 days is conclude ? Do I need to do another test after 6 weeks or 3 months ?
Before test , I use antibiotics , did the medicine effect the result of HIV Combo method ?
    Thank you so much
    I’m so panic these days

    • I would consider your test conclusive, especially since oral sex is a negligible risk for HIV transmission in the fist place. However, there are still other types of STDs potentially transmissible through oral sex, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and herpes. If you are still concerned, please visit us for a consultation and evaluation.

  5. Hello Doctor,

I had a HIV alere combo test at your clinic on day 30 which was negative. I had a low risk exposure.
I wanted to know if you and your collegues might have done thousands of these tests.
Have you ever seen anyone turning positive after 28 days combo?

  6. Hi Dr,

Can Hpv virus lead to a symptoms like fatigue weakness and red rashes on back? Or it don’t have these symptoms for hpv

  7. Dear doctor,

3 times NEGATIVE till September 2018 after the risky exposure in July 2016.

Risky gay anal sex exposure in 7th July 2016; 1st negative 5th July 2017, 2nd negative 2nd November 2017 and 3rd negative 4th September 2018.All are rapid test. Last one was from a govt hospital who did not use chase buffer. Second rapid test was done by blood serum.

Should i still be confused about the result?

    • Hello Doctor,

is my question not important? it looks like u are ignoring it.
my question is – are the test conclusive? is there any confusion?

  8. Hello Doctor,

Just a confirmation on which alere is used? Can you confirm

    Alere HIV Combo
    (Purple Strips)

    Alere Determine HIV-1/2 Ag/Ab Combo
    (Aqua/Blue Strips)

  9. Thomas adjei

    Hi Dr,
I had unprotected sex, after one week of that i had many symptoms rashes fatigue weakness and red spot on my back.
I did all std test at 3 n 6 months all negative.
But one day i see black rashes on my penis it stayed for 3 days then it go away.

One dr tell me to take anti-viral acyclovir drug
U recommend for me to take this drug? Or is harm if i take the drug if i don’t have herpes with me.
By the way fatigue and rashes still with me because of unknown virus in my body

    • If your tests are all negative at 3 and 6 months, I do not see what the indication is for acyclovir treatment. However, I cannot comment on your treatment without a consultation and assessment of your symptoms. If you are still concerned, please visit us for a proper evaluation.

  10. frederick

Dear Dr, I had protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex (reciever & giver) with escort girl in europe 7 months ago. After the exposure i had done three tests for STD through blood test. third weeks(4th gen combi) 15 weeks(4th gen eclia) & 20 weeks(4th gen combi) and the results were non reactive. Do i need further test? For oral herpes hsv1g i tested positive and do i need to take medicine even no outbreak occurs? Can oral herpes cause muscle aches? can oral herpes transmit even no outbreak occur?

    • I would consider all of your tests conclusive. Oral herpes is common and does not usually require treatment unless you are having outbreaks. It can be transmitted through asymptomatic viral shedding, although the risk is low. If you still have concerns, please visit us for a proper consultation and assessment.

      • frederick

Tq dr, does the 4th generation elecsys combi pt assay test equipment very accurate and the 28days window period also apply for this test equipment?

  11. A week ago i took subway in HK during rush hours(extremely crowded). After passing by a busy station, i found a tiny wound on my right hand, 2mmx0.5mm which seems like being scatched by some sharp stuffs where i have no idea of what it is, with some dried blood on it, though I dunno whether it is from myself or others. I washed my wound when i took off after around 15mins.

Yet, recent day i m suffering from bad running nose and feeling dizzy at all time, body temperature seems got higher too. Am i at risk?

  12. Man donald

I had a small cut exposing white skin underneath. It looked deep and was only 0.5mm wide. It never pained nor i knew this existed until next day while taking bath i saw this. This triggered anxiety in me and i am worried now. Can this wound expose bloodstream and if masseuse had a cut that bleed into my cut, can it pose route for HIV ? it might be older wound but i cannot say for sure.. it healed automaticall after 4 days.
If the massuese had a cut can this be a route of transmission?
I did rapid combo test 16 & 30 days later and it came negative at robertson clinic. Please suggest.

    • As explained to you both on website comments and presumably during your clinic visits:
      1. There is no risk
      2. Even if there was a risk, your tests are conclusive 28 days post-exposure
      Relax. Stop worrying.

      • Man donald

Thanks Dr. Jonathan. Perhaps the guilt anxiety and fear of infection is taking best of me.. i will try to move on from here..

  13. Hi Doctor

I wouuld like to check, previously i was diagnosed with yeast infection. Does yeast infection lead to HIV? Which HIV test is recommended for a confirm result??

    • Yeast infections do not lead to HIV. They are separate infections. You may visit our clinics and speak to any of our doctors about HIV testing, and they will be able to recommend the most appropriate one for you.

  14. Please help

    Please please read

    Dear Dr,

I had unprotected oral gay sex on 29 September, I got tested for the entire STD panel on 1 October 2018 and it was all negative. I again tested for AHT at your clinic on 30 October 2018 and it was also negative.

For the past three days, I have fever (37.7) and minor red spots on my arms. Please confirm if I need to get tested again.

Further, if there a risk on HIV from oral sex between men (even if the HIV status of the other person is unknown)?

Please reply. Thank you very much.

  15. Hello doctor, I tested at your clinic at day 16 with combo test and result were negative. Rapid combo test 1. I had a exposure of massage with handjob. Any documented cases for this being a risk? 2. I had cut at knee due to excessive scratching which was deep showing white skin underneath and worried if masseue had a cut and if it bleeds in my cut. Is it a risk? 3. Are rapid test as accurate as lab test? P24 will detect both Hiv 1/2 ? 4. Dr. Handsfield mentioned that result are conclusive at 6 weeks. Should i test again at 6 weeks? Also i read on your website that massage parlour girls are tested every 6 months. Is it still true? I cannot find this information anywhere else. Assumig the girl said she is working from 5 years and recent raids at beach road, she must be genuine worker i beleive.

    • There is zero risk from a handjob. You do not have to worry at all. If you are still concerned, you may follow up and we can have a consultation.

      • Thanks dr jonathan .. i followed up on day 30 and did combo again.. result was negative.. Dr. grace mentioned i have zero risk.. i am concerned due to CDC mentioning only lab tests are conclusive and rapid teat are not till 90 days..

        • Reason i am worried is cut and not handjob.. Cut to cut is what i am very concerned about..

  16. if I undergo anynomous HIV testing at your clinic and it is confirmed that I am HIV positive, would you provide sources of treatment without no name being reported to the authorities?

    • We can counsel on treatment options available, but actual medications will need to be prescribed under a registered account (will be notifiable then). As such, patients who are HIV positive but do not wish to be notified will usually opt for treatment overseas.

  17. Zombieguy

    Dear dr Tan,

Appreciate if you could answer my questions.

    1. Is Alere Rapid combo test conclusive at 39days post exposure? Confirmatory test required?

    2. If someone tested positive for HSV1 (*>3.5 Igg test), is this confirmed positive? Does it mean that the infection has been for quite long based on the value?

    3. If a foreign worker has diagnosed with hsv 1 here in one of the laboratories, will it be a valid reason for his workpass revocation?

Thanks doc for all the info you are sharing on this forum 🙂

    • Yes, a 4th gen combo test at 39 days would be considered conclusive for HIV. HSV-1 positive on serology would indicate an infection of at least 3 months or more. HSV has no impact on work or employment pass.

  18. Dear Doc,

Two days ago, I sat down onto a public toilet seat to use it for a long time without looking at it beforehand. It was only after I stood up, wiped and turned to flush when I noticed a rather large semi-circle-shaped blood stain on one side of the seat, where I would definitely have sat on.

I cannot remember if the stain was wet or dry, and I wouldn’t have noticed as I was very urgent and tired.

If the stain was wet and the blood managed to enter the vagina or an open wound on my bottoms (I was suffering from hemorrhoids and frequent diarrhoea due to stomach flu which meant I had to rub the skin frequently), would I be at significant risk of contracting HIV?

Really hope to get a response. Thank you.

  19. Fildoprex

Hi. I had oral and unprotected intercourse with a transverstite. There was ejaculation. It was my first time doing it. What are the odds of me getting hiv?

    • It is a high risk demographic and exposure type. If you are within 72 hours of exposure, please visit us immediately to consult on Post-Exposure Prophylaxis. However, if you are outside the 72 hour period, you will just have to wait and test at 1 month post-exposure for accurate results.

  20. hello doctor i would like to ask i perfom oral sex with a guy msm (i sucking him)feel like my mouth got some blood and i assume its my gum are bleeding but not much no ejuculate and precum will there any high risk to hiv?im so worry bout this ?

  21. Hi Dr ,
    I had unprotected sex,

After that about 3 weeks later, I see some black rashes on my penis body about 3 spots it stayed for 3 days then it go away, also I have rashes on my back and hot temperature for my body and weakness

I did HIV , chlamydia, gonorrhea , herpes 1&2 ,after 3 and 4 months all negative.

What type of virus u think I have from sexual that I did?

    • We really cannot make any kind of diagnosis over the internet. If you have symptoms of concern, please visit us for a proper consult and evaluation.

  22. Dear Dr, I had a massage given by a csw. She gave me a handjob and fingered my anus (no protection). I have the following questions, as I am very worried. a)any risk of HIV or other STD? b)has HIV already been transmitted thy way? c) do I need to test? Thanks Dr. I am very worried.

    • There is no realistic risk of HIV/STDs in this exposure. If you are still concerned, please visit us for a proper consult and evaluation.

      • Dear Dr Johathan,
Thanks so much for your reply. I feel much better now. Just to confirm, I do not need to test for HIV/STD right? I do not know if this makes a difference, but I do not know if she had cuts/wounds on her fingers. There was not exchange of body fluids during the masturbation. Thanks for your reply Dr.

  23. Dr i wanna ask any hiv risk from touching nipple and breast? As i meet a girl from web thn meet up for tea. We go for guest house for 10 min. Within this 10 minute we just chat nvr doing any sex include oral, vagial and anal or fingering and handjob as well. But i just touch her breast and nipple and vaginal through her pans. I nvr notice any cut on finger. Dr do i hv any risk?

      • Dr thks for your reply. Dr if i do the pcr rna quantitayive at 10 days if the time of exposure at afternoin 2pm then my test was conduct at 8am mprning is the accurate of test will decrease?

  24. Hi had protected sex with a korean csw on jan 16 2017

Tested negative at dsc clinic on after 30 days
Negative at Robertson walk on June and August 2017 both negative as well. Now 2018 21 sept have pimple in ear. Planta warts and warts on side of toe and right food have psoriasis on toe area also skin is very dry and tongue have white coating from last year till now not sure if it’s due to night breathing with mouth. Armpit lymph nodes come and go 2 times since last year. Paranoid again.

    • What is your question? Your tests for HIV are negative and they are conclusive. If you are having other symptoms and which to have them evaluated, you may visit us for a consultation. If you feel you have a problem with paranoia and anxiety, you may wish to see a therapist or psychiatrist.

      • My question is the test are conclusive right ? No other exposure since then. And symptoms that I mentioned are not in anyway related to hiv ?

      • My question is the test is conclusive right ? No other exposure since then . And symptoms that I mention are not anyway related to hiv ??

        • Yes. My reply is clear that your tests are conclusive. If your tests are negative and conclusive, then it follows that your symptoms are not related to HIV.
