Anonymous HIV Testing at Our Clinic.

In 2008, we were given the mandate by the Ministry of Health to conduct anonymous HIV testing.

Registration form for Anonymous HIV Testing. No personal details required.

Registration form for Anonymous HIV Testing. No personal details required.

Not all clinics are allowed to conduct anonymous HIV tests. This is because according to the Infectious Diseases Act, all medical personnel are required to inform MOH of the details of any person they know or suspect of being infected with HIV. Our clinic signed a gazette that is filed with the Supreme Court of Singapore to excuse us from this section of the Infectious Diseases Act. We are therefore mandated under Singapore Law to be allowed to conduct Anonymous HIV tests. Yes, it is a big deal.

We use only Gold Standard HIV tests that are validated and approved according to the latest International Standards.

All Our Doctors are fully certified and trained in advance HIV testing.

We use only single use and disposable equipment and are validated by MOH for Good Infection Control Practices.

Here is step-by-step guide to getting an Anonymous HIV test done at our clinic.

1. Anonymous HIV tests are conducted at our clinic at Robertson Walk.

2. You do not need an appointment. Just walk in to our clinic anytime during our opening hours.

Click Here for Contact Details, Address and Opening Times.

3. Let our staff at the counter know that you are here for the ‘3 step test’

4. You will be given a form that looks like this: AHT Registration Form

5. As you can see, the form does not require any personal details from you.

6. This form has a serial number on it : AHT####. You will be identified according to this number.

7. You will be given a pamphlet with information on various HIV and STD tests. Your serial number will also be on this pamphlet. Hold on to it.

8. When the doctor is ready to see you, the staff will ask you to go into the doctor’s room.

9. When you meet the doctor, this is your chance to ask all the questions you want to ask.

10. You should also let the doctor know if you suspect or wish to test for any other STDs.

Click here to see the full range of our HIV/STD Services

11. We offer both the Oraquick Advance HIV 1/2 Test, the Determine HIV 1/2 Test and the SD Bioline HIV Combo test.

Click here for info on the Rapid Anonymous HIV Combo Test

12. The doctor will ask you a few pertinent questions then conduct the test for you.

13. You will need to wait 20 minutes for the results.

If you test Negative for HIV

1. The doctor will advise you on when to come back for a repeat test if you are in the window period.

2. This is another chance for you to ask whatever questions you have with regards to HIV or any other STDs.

3. You can then leave the clinic but please remember to come back for your repeat test if required.

If you test Positive for HIV

1. The doctor will draw a blood for a confirmatory Western Blot test. This test is also anonymous.

2. This test might take up to 2 weeks for us to get the results.

3. Because you tested at our clinic, there will be no notification requirements.

4. You can leave a contact number or email for us to contact you with the Western Blot results. Or you can contact us after 2 weeks.

5. Our doctor will then discuss with you the next steps.

6. All of this still remains anonymous.

Do not hesitate. Come for a test now.

  1. Dear Dr,

Is dry, chapped skin with perhaps even some red irritation but no visible cuts constitute as intact skin or no (because of possibility of micro-cuts)? If HIV+ blood gets onto such skin, is there risk?

  2. Hi Doc,

Sorry if this qn is dumb but I would be grateful for an answer.

Ytd on the train, the back of my forearm touched another woman’s, and when I looked over, I saw that her forearm had a few red injuries (cuts and scratches I think) and one sore, all of which seemed to be at least partially healed, although I could only take one glance so I cannot be sure.

I didn’t have anything to wipe my forearm, and couldn’t wash it on the train. During that time, my hair brushed past and sometimes stuck to that area for a bit.

I think that area of my forearm didn’t have any injuries but my hair was lifted up to my lips a few times by wind or momentum, sometimes when my mouth was open.

My hair also stuck to my back, especially after showering, because I didn’t think to wash my hair, and my back is prone to hard scratching by me, which I did shortly after the shower.

Is there any risk in this exposure? And would the answer be the same if my forearm had injuries too?

Thank you very much for your time and patience, Dr.

  3. Doctor Jonathan,

With a hotel house keeping Maid she came to clean my room in Ethiopia and she tried to offer me sex but i refused but she graped my penis and at this time i agreed for some gand touches only , Am i at risk without intercourse at all just touching her vagina and she massages my dick and then she went down on her knees and put my dick in between her breasts not using oil but it was soft enough and with my pre-cum she did it till ejaculation ,

That case was 7 months ago but i tested after 4 months and half ago and the test was P24 Ag Abs Combo and the result was Non-Reactive after 3 hours ,

I am having 2 lympho like 2mm small beside my left jaw and its been there since 7 months .

Also white layer on the end part of my tounge which i can remove it with my brushing only at my end part of tounge ,

Please tell me what you think?

    • Zero risk for HIV. And your tests are conclusive.

      • Thank you , you don’t recommend a retest again now ?

Should i retest with 3rd Generation as i heard the 4th Generation not accurate after 8 weeks ?

        • No, I do not believe any re-test is necessary. And 4th gen tests are accurate from 4 weeks onwards. There is no drop in accuracy with time.

  4. Hi doctor.
Few months ago, I was a bit drunk and had a handjob by csw, and my dick was lick and sucked only for less than half a minute. 5 mins later, I went to the washroom and washed my penis with tap water.
    1. I read some of the doctors comment and found out that oral sex is very much debated. I just want to know if you have any patient who came to you in this scenario and turns out to be hiv positive.
    2. May i know if washing my penis increases the risk?

    • No, the risk from oral sex is not debated. It is negligible. I do not know of any patient who contracted HIV through oral sex.

  5. Hello doctor, would really appreciate your reply to this:

I cut my finger today on the hanger hook in the public restroom while trying to hook my bag on it. The cut was around 5mm long.

I didn’t wipe or clean the cut. I just used the toilet. Only after I used the toilet, when I was taking down my bag and accidentally clicked on my phone flashlight, did I notice that there was a red stain on the hook, right where my cut would have come in contact with. It definitely didn’t come from me, because its size was too big to come from such a fresh cut.

I left the toilet and then cleaned my finger with soap, as well as soak up the blood from my cut with tissue. However, that was around 10-15mins after the cut was alr made.

The stain was as bright red as fresh blood. I don’t know when the toilet was last used (I wasn’t noticing the people leaving the toilets) and I don’t know if it was liquid or dried (although it seemed quite liquid).

If this came from a HIV-positive person, should I be concerned? Given how extremely extremely fresh my cut was?

    • I don’t know how relevant this is, but the cut was on my thumb, on the very smooth area between the base of the nail and the outermost/first thumb joint.

      Thank you very much, doc.

    • I do not believe you are at any risk from this exposure.

    Help me plz ,

  7. confused

Dear doctor, I got a handjob and unprotected oral sex from csw. I seen my family physican and he said to come to a hiv clinic and also told me that it is not necessary to test. I am very confused and dumbfounded by his opinion. Is oral sex really such a low risk? And I would also like to know which clinic does dr tan goes to? thanks

    • The risk of HIV from oral sex is close to zero; however, there are other STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea which you can certainly contract from oral sex. Dr Tan is generally based in Novena, but you would have to call and make an appointment. Otherwise, if you wish to walk-in for anonymous HIV testing or further consultation, you may come down to our Robertson Walk clinic – this is our only clinic which is mandated to perform rapid HIV testing anonymously.

    Hello doctor,
    Last week , i had blow job with a girl let’s say she’s HIV+ .
Blow job considered as low or high risk of HIV ? Or zero risk ?

  9. Hi Doctor.

Can blood stained hand towel transmit HIV? I have one small cuts on my back on my hand.

Am I risk in getting it ?

  10. Mattt97

    Hello Doctor,
This may be a stupid question to ask, but does frequent masturbation cause HIV or STD?
About half a year ago, I used to masturbate 2-3 times a week in the toilet, I didn’t have any problem until recently I started to fall sick quite easily and there are little red spots(filled with pus, like pimple) on the back, front(stomach area), shoulder, neck, and occasionally trunk and leg area. I went to a GP and he told me I was bitten by some bugs from a dirty clothing/mattress etc and it cannot be seen with a naked eye. I was not really convince by him.
I have since cut down my masturbation to 0 to 1 times a week, and the red spots do come back once in a while
My girlfriend asked me to get myself tested, but I would like to hear from you first. Thanks!

  11. curious

i am looking for an opinion
day0- receive unprotected oral sex(not sure oresence of blood)
    day15- low grade fever(37·4)
    hoarse throat(no voice)
erythematous, generally symmetrical, non puritus(only for a while when it starts) maculopapular rash(more like pimple break out), swollen lymph nodes
day 20- hiv home test kit(erd generation)

    1) my concern is that do i need to retest?
    2) should i have taken pep during the first three days? i am very regretting now
    3) are my symptoms suggestive of hiv?

    • Your risk of HIV from oral sex is close to zero so I do not recommend PEP for oral sex. Your symptoms are non-specific but so are HIV symptoms – we do not go by symptoms, just exposure risk and testing. If it was a risky exposure, your test is not yet conclusive and you would need a 4th gen test at 28 days or more.

  12. Rayan Chan

I recently did Alere HIV combo duo test and doctor told me that result be ready in 10 mins. He concluded result at 15-16 min later as Negative. The official word is 20 min wait time. Why this discrepancy?
Is it conclusive at 10 min?
Lastly, I am not sure, where did he get the lancet before pricking me. I am worried if he applied a used lancet on me?
DO y guys use single use lancet? that means it cant be used second time even if someone tries to use it by mistake?

    Please reply.

    • 10 minutes is usually adequate time to identify the result accurately. Lancets are single-use in our clinic, and presumably any other testing facility.

      • Rayan chan

Can it become positive closer to 20 min? If interpretated and discarded at 10 min?

        • Not in my experience.

          • Rayan Chan

So doctor, mine was interpreted at 15-16 min, do y think that by this time result would be 100 per accurate?
My suggestion is that there should be standardization wity rgards to wait time. i.e., either 20 min or 10 min, without any confusion.

          • Rayan chan

Can we rely on pkint of care rapid hiv kids? Hows the comparison with elisa based ag/ab test.
If rapid tests are less accurate then can we say that Elisa based test is the way to go?

          • Rayan chan

            Dear dr.
Please reply to my Qs above.

  14. Hi drs
I had protected sex with a prostitute in geylang x2 with bareback oral sex a week ago. When should I see you at the earliest for a conclusive HIV test? Many thanks.

    • For conclusive HIV testing, you should come at 28 days or more post-exposure. We can also discuss other potential STDs and testing/treatment.

  15. Hi Doctor, I stupidly had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex with a freelance prostitute online from PRC. Condom stayed on throughout sex.
What would be the chances of contracting HIV from this episode?

    • The chances are fairly low for HIV, but there are certainly risks of other STDs such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, etc. Please visit us for a proper consult and evaluation.

  16. Hello,I had a biopsy of my wart a few months ago in a lab with a blade which was accompanied by lots of bleeding. From that day on,I’m always wondering if the blade has been clean or not because the lab space wasn´t so clean.since I suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder, 31 days after my biopsy i did rna analysis test for hiv and hcv that both came to negative.3 days after my test i got a fever and had pain in my abdominal region along with nausea.I Felt well 5 days later.I also did anti hiv1,2- p24 ag-anti hcv and hiv pcr test forty days after my biopsy that their results were non-reactive and negative. My questions are: 1) Are my test results reliable? 2)Do i need to test more? I would appreciate it if you answer my questions.I’m so anxious because i live in a third world country and if a medical malpractice happens,no one will be responsible for it. many thanks

  17. Hi Dr,

I did a blowjob on my bf on tues (26th dec), and he cum in my mouth, i swallowed it. We had no sex after that. And what i realised now is that he had several other girls outside, and im not sure if he had sex with any of them. What are the risks im getting? Am getting light headed and sleepy after that. Am i infected?

    • The risk of HIV is essentially zero. However, there are other potential STDs which you can pick up from giving oral sex, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes. If you have concerns, please visit us for a proper consult and assessment.

  18. I am very much confused about Herpes HSV 1 (Gential) or Balanitis or Candida? I had unprotected sex 3 month before. I did HIV test in first and second month after exposure and came out negative.
After second month, I found small red rashes on head of my penis. Doctor did the swap test and told me its balanitis. I applied cream for 2 weeks no result. Also I found white layers inside my cheek. In third month, I did all STD test like HIV, Hep-B & C, Chlamydia, and Herpes. During that time I was very stress from 2 month and hectic & stressful work, and saw some skin rashes on penis (kind of ulcers). In test report all other tests are negative and HSV – 1 came out positive (IGg test on 3 months exposure).
Doctor told me to take valtrex and gave me some cream to apply. I have joint pain from 2 month and blisters on my back. I never had cold sores, swap test result showed balanitis and blood test showed HSV -1. My Penis skin peeling and ulcer almost healed now.

I am confused, taking swap test or blood test or western blot test for herpes conclude something. Also, is it yeast or candida because of white layer inside my cheek and sore throat (feel likes something struck in throat)?

Kindly advise, is there any test to find out the problem. Also is HIV tests are conclusive?

  19. Dear Doctor, i went to a massage and was given a oiled handjob without protection. I am having the following worries regarding the possibility of getting STIs, HPVs, HIV.

    1) i can’t see if there are any open wound, sore, cuts, warts or her genital fluids on the hands/fingers of the masseuse. Assuming there are and what is my risk of getting the above (STDs, HIV, HPVs) from the handjob I received?

    2) it was dark then and i can’t tell if she had used her mouth on my penis (i am in the insertive position) while doing the handjob. (i hope she didn’t as i said hands only) If she did, it was only briefly as i remember i ejaculated on her hands. Assuming she did, what will my risk be on STDs, HPV and HIV?

    3) I have rubbed her clitoris and outer area with my fingers for 15-20 seconds with no insertion. After maybe 3-5mins she moved her fingers around my anus opening area after massaging/touching my hands/fingers that i rubbed her with earlier. After these I touched my penis with the same hand/fingers while cleaning up with a wet wipe.

She had also used her mouth on my nipples. Again, what is my risk of transferring any of the above (STDs, HIV, HPVs) from my fingers to penis? And also, from her fingers to my anus opening? I am worried more on HIV (understand Low risk) and HPV (skin to skin contact).

Your assistance/advice is deeply appreciated and I am really very worried. Thank you.

  21. Dear Dr ,

A girl did blow job for me ( suck penis) only for like 6 seconds . It’s unknown status
This considered with low or high risk of HIV? Or zero risk? Because it’s only six seconds . Thanks

  22. Skinny ada

    Dear Doctor Tan ,

I am freaking out as i had low risky as per what my Doctor in my country said ( oil Handjob and between her breasts with oil ) & told me as long as i Never had insertive sex with that csw lady that night on 2nd Nov 2016 then the rest actions are low risky and he advised me just to free mind myself to do the test ,

On 18th of April 2017 i did HIV P24 Ag Abs Combo test and i had to wait 2 hours till i recieved the result as of Non-Reactive but i am having small lympho nodes under my lower jaw since one year ago and not increasing or decreasing its like ( 0.5 cm ) and thin line on one nail .

What you think of my test which almost close to 24 weeks ??

  23. Hi Dr,

I had a protected blowjob and handjob during taiwan trip on 8/11/2017. I quite worry then i will get HIV right now, am i in any risk of HIV?

    • There is negligible risk of HIV through oral sex. If you are concerned, please come down to our Robertson Walk clinic for consult and anonymous testing.

  24. Hi doctor ,
Last week i feel fatigue and weakness in all my body and redness of my body.
I did Full blood test my platelets was low
    80 ( 150—400 ) was very scared
Next i did HIV test ( 4 months) after exposure negative result.

In your opinion, platelets become low because many reasons, one of them HIV but it’s negative, so maybe i have cancer?
What diseases or viruses make platelets low?
What tests i should do to know my problem? Thanks

  25. Tomvietnam

Hello doctor. I had a negative result after a 38 day exposure test, and I needed to do more tests in 3 months.

  26. Hello doctor

Sorry if this is a silly question, would really appreciate your answer.

I was a bit drunk yesterday night, and while taking the escalator, one of my fingers was resting on some wet fluid on the handrail. Didn’t remove my finger or bother wiping it ’cause I wasn’t thinking straight then.

When I lifted my hand, it touched my teeth ’cause my mouth was open.

I instinctively closed shut my mouth after that, so the inner mucous membrane of my lips was in long contact with my teeth.

Do I need to be worried of getting HIV if the fluid was blood or some other possible vector? Scared that the person who left the fluid left it very very shortly before I rested my finger on it, so no more exposure to air after I put my finger on it.

Would really appreciate your time to reply this. Thank you.

  27. ******I AM EXPECTING YOUR KIND OPINION.******* I had short time unprotected anal sex WITH unknown male in 7 jULY 2016, no symptom apart from some unwell feelings in hand and legs. From 14th MAY 2017 i felt unwell and felt some symptoms joint and muscle pain discretely in hands and legs, nausea for 2/3 days, two times soft stool(not diarrhea), over sleepy over a period of time for almost 2 weeks and before that also, chest palpitation, pressure inside head, very mild fever for short time 2-3 days, bad feelings like weakness and palpitation, discrete mild pain was in whole month of MAY, short time night flash also at the neck. All were very mild, i have history of panic disorder for long time where i had to go under treatment for long 5 years. I tested rapid antibody test in July 5th 2017 and got ‘NEGATIVE’ though i cannot remember that the lab technician used the CHASE BUFFER or not, i asked he said that he is an expert on it and he does 4-5 test each day for last five years. Problem is i found some scary symptom in my girlfriend also during the same time and all came almost after one year of my exposure, she was falling asleep in office, hugely tired, feeling nausea for two days, and headache and fever for another two days and abdominal pain during period. We had sex last time 4 months before and later we broke up. Then at around 14-18 july, 2017 i had vaginal sex with a new girl who i am going to marry but i found some scary symptom in this new girl also during the 28th July ,2017 onward. she was falling asleep in office, just after 12 days she felt huge headache and bad feeling in her body, was hugely tired , had palpitation, she had nausea for whole night and day on 31st of JULY and felt very unwell in her body, had a pressure up 130/100, she still don’t have the period this month. Her and my symptoms are almost similar and she got the symptom just within 2 weeks after having sex with me. Now i am seeing some dry skin in my arms and my legs also and still having the mild joint and muscle pain discretely specially in my hand. “”do u think that my rapid antibody test was false on 5th July 2017 after one year of exposure?”” What if that person did not add the chase buffer and had got a false negative”. I tested from an NGO who only works with HIV.

I did another test on the month of NOVEMBER 2017 with blood serum and the test happened in front of my own eyes. It came back NEGATIVE again. I watched the lab technician centrifuged the blood and took the serum to another small test tube and then put that on the test bed and i watched it for 15 min and saw it NEGATIVE. But still i am worried because I am engaged with another girl and it is annoying for me to see same type of symptoms with my this GF also. Why even after being negative two times all my GFs are felling same? I am confused. Can there be any other explanation like HAV/HBV/HCV? what can go wrong? after 2-4 weeks of sec period-they felt short time nausea, sleepy and over tiredness and general unwell feeling for them.
